Acclaimed singer-songwriter Liam Forde and his ensemble return to The Fifth on Saturday, December 7 to debut our new after hours performance series Mansion After Dark. This intimate event will feature a dynamic array of original music and new takes on familiar standards—with many surprises along the way.
According to NPR, Forde “has firmly established himself as one of the most delightful and daringly creative cabaret artists of his generation” and was declared “rapidly rising” by The Wall Street Journal. He has headlined performances at notable venues domestically and internationally; a recent live performance of his music was featured on Radio France accompanied by a 20-piece orchestra that was conducted by Patrice Peyriéras, music director to three-time Oscar-winning composer Michel Legrand. Selected concert and cabaret performances in New York City include those at: Jazz at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Café Carlyle, Birdland Jazz Club, and The Pierre Hotel.
Forde is the recipient of numerous awards including the Nightlife Award for Outstanding Male Vocalist, the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Julie Wilson Award, the Bistro Award for Performer on the Rise, and the Helen Hayes Award for his leading performance in the play Hand to God at Studio Theatre in Washington DC, which was lauded by The Washington Post as “the breakout performance of the summer.” When My World’s in Tune, the lead single from Forde’s first album of original music, was deemed “a dreamy pop debut” by HuffPost. Talkin’ Broadway claimed that Liam is “morphing into this century’s version of Noel Coward or Cole Porter.” He is currently working on his second album and writing a new musical for the stage. Forde is a proud graduate of Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music.
