ART AND THE FIFTH

The Fifth Avenue Hotel Art Collection

Art is at the heart of our vision of what it means to be a flâneur. A flâneur collects art to gather moments and memories, puzzles and paradoxes, intrigues and inspirations—and then displays them together to see what kinds of dialogues might emerge. The collection simultaneously asks questions and offers delight, rewarding the curiosity of each of every flâneur.

Guided by Creativity

ART HAS ALWAYS BEEN AT THE HEART OF OUR BRAND

Even before The Fifth could welcome guests, it signaled to the world its promise of both hospitality and intrigue. While the façade was undergoing restoration, painter David Salle was commissioned to install artworks on a monumental scale to enchant passers-by with colorful and evocative images. Inviting inspection and creating intrigue, this work brought fresh energy to Fifth Avenue.

THE FIFTH’S FLÂNOGRAPHERS

Traditionally, flâneurs are leisurely explorers who immerse themselves in their surroundings, noticing the subtle details often overlooked. When this observant nature is paired with photographic skill, a flânographer is born.

At The Fifth, we carefully curate a select group of flânographers throughout the year, ensuring each one engages deeply with the hotel's ambiance with a keen, artistic eye. Renowned tastemakers in their own right, these chosen artists wander through our spaces, capturing the soul of The Fifth through their lens.

Drawing from their personal and professional backgrounds, their work highlights the hotel's design, art, and cultural elements, telling stories that resonate emotionally with guests and create a visually captivating experience.
