Following Kasmin Gallery’s exhibition Lee Krasner: The Edge of Color, Geometric Abstractions 1948–53 and on the occasion of The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), The Fifth Avenue Hotel presented a conversation between Caroline Black, Executive Director of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation; and Eleanor Nairne, Curator and Head of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Lee Krasner is a key figure in American art whose visceral painting reflects the spirit of possibility in post-war New York. This program celebrates the work and life of Krasner (1908–1984), a pioneer of Abstract Expressionism, who remained dedicated to exploring new directions throughout her five-decade career.
This program was presented in partnership with Kasmin Gallery, where the work of Lee Krasner has been represented via the Pollock-Krasner Foundation since 2016.
